Catherine grew up surrounded by faith, family, and funerals she always saw coming. Her gift—what her family calls “the death sense”—runs down her mother’s side, skipping generations but never truly fading. Her great-grandmother predicted her own daughter’s early death, and her teenage aunt spent months asking everyone if they’d miss her “when she was gone.” She died at eighteen.

Once, at seventeen, an overwhelming panic sent her searching for her best friend, only to learn the next day that she’d passed away overnight.
