Welcome to Re-Storying Justice. A RAVEN podcast where we explore Indigenous laws of the land and how they intersect with the colonial legal system in Canada.
In many Indigenous cultures, laws have survived the passage of time, intricately woven into song, ceremonies, and stories. These legal systems have survived for thousands of years, often rooted in relationships with the land, water, seasons.
Here are RAVEN, we work in solidarity with Indigenous Nations who are upholding their rights and laws through the courts. We do this through fundraising and educational initiatives. Join us as we explore Indigenous legal traditions and their relationship with the colonial legal system in Canada.
In this series, we’ll dive into Indigenous legal traditions—rooted in land, language, and community—and examine how they intersect, conflict with, and sometimes align with Canadian law. Together, we’ll explore the possibilities of reconciliation through law, and the transformative power of recognizing Indigenous traditions as foundational to justice on this land.
