Whoa, boy is this episode something else! Hosts Mike and Steven welcome their first-ever guest, author Laura Carney, to the show, and the year she chose to discuss is the doozy of all Oscar years:1940. It's common knowledge that 1939 was an embarrassment of riches for Hollywood, with films like Gone With the Wind, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, Wuthering Heights, and Goodbye Mr. Chips all getting love from the Academy. But there were a few other titles in contention at the ceremony too. They cover all of that and much more in this episode—including quite a lot of talk about Mickey Rooney. Check it out!
