Bob Effros and Vincent Lopez

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who these fellows are? On the left is bandleader Vincent Lopez. On the right is trumpeter and composer Bob Effros and this being his 125th birthday, he is the subject of this week’s “One Thing in Common” edition of the show. You’ll hear a detailed biography and everything played on the show this week features “Grandpa Bob.” He played in Vincent Lopez orchestras from 1921 to 1927, so there’s a Vincent Lopez segment. We’ll also hear from the Boswell Sisters and Frank Crumit and hear several of Bob’s compositions. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
