with Dr. Demento at the L. A. Breakfast Club April 2, 2025
“Me and Dr. D.”

Welcome to Glenn Robison’s Rapidly Rotating Records, bringing you vintage music to which you can’t not tap your toes, from rapidly rotating 78 RPM records of the 1920s and ’30s.

Do you know who this fellow is? His real name is Barry Hansen, but he’s better known to his millions of fans as Dr. Demento. I’ve been a fan since the 1970s and recently had the pleasure of celebrating his 84th birthday at the L. A. Breakfast Club. So why is his the featured photograph on this week’s playlist? Well, you’ll find out in the second segment of this week’s show when I play a handful of “handful” records. Harry Harden and Lloyd Finlay will each have a birthday segment. We’ll also have a vocabulary lesson, take a musical trip to the Cumberlands and have a “Hi-Oh Silver” segment. There’s lots of great music and interesting information so set aside an hour with your favorite beverage and prepare to be transported back to a different–and we think better–musical era. Just click the link above to listen streaming online and/or download for listening at your convenience.

THANKS FOR LISTENING! ENJOY THE SHOW!
