The Coalition has suggested changes to the government's proposed overhaul of the country's environment laws, as Labor tries to secure support for its reform before parliament rises for the year.

While Federal Environment Minister Murray Watt says he is confident the laws will pass this week, Shadow Minister for the Environment Angie Bell says it is vital the reforms are not rushed.
