On 16 August 2012, South Africa witnessed its deadliest use of state violence against civilians since the end of apartheid. Thirty-four striking mineworkers were gunned down by members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) at the Marikana platinum mine owned by Lonmin PLC in the North West province. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi is in conversation with AMCU Head of Organisational Development, Krister Van Jansen, SERI Executive Director, Nomzamo Zondo and Attorney for the Mineworkers, Andries Nkome.
