In Ancient Greece, the standard of phallic beauty was small. This is evident in statues from the time. Classical marble sculptures of Hercules often showed him hanging a bit bigger than average, but only to demonstrate his brute strength rather than his beauty. Indeed, size mattered, but in quite the opposite way it matters today.

This tale of Hercules and one of his many lovers, Lippos, is not about the large and the small. It is part of Peter's series we call "Big, Bigger, Biggest." Hercules is Big. He encounters Bigger men, but Lippos is the Biggest. He is ridiculed for his difference and likened to a horse in cruel ridicule.
