We discussed the benefits of senior centers in promoting healthy aging, highlighting their role in social engagement, assistance, outings, active aging, learning opportunities, nutritious dining, community support, and volunteer activities. Elizabeth Magallon Fleury emphasized the need for rebranding senior centers as community centers to avoid the word “senior” and encourage intergenerational interaction. We also touched on ageism, with a video from AARP showing young people's misconceptions about aging and articles from Wall Street Journal, and Axios highlighting the challenges of aging, job loss for older workers, and the impact of an aging population on society. Dr. Zalan Alam provided his perspective from the UK for these two USA based articles.

Linda introduced in discussion of using the word “senior” that Amazon offers “you may also like” titles to do with "chair yoga for seniors" and such when you look at their listing for Carol Chiang OTRL’s new book: Age in Place or Find a New Space.
