In this thought-provoking episode of Movement, Rhythm, and Conversations with Tafari, we dive deep into one of the most pressing questions facing our people today: Why can’t the Black community get itself together economically?

Despite centuries of systemic oppression, discrimination, and deliberate obstacles placed in our path, is it time we stop leaning on the white power structure as the only explanation for our struggles? With the Black household median income lagging far behind white families, we must ask why our money circulates out of our communities so quickly, while other groups, from Jewish to Asian to Indian communities, have built thriving economic ecosystems.

On Movement, Rhythm, and Conversations with Tafari, we explore the uncomfortable truth: while others own businesses, hotels, gas stations, beauty supply stores, and banks, the only thing many Black communities seem to own is Jesus. Is faith without economic works keeping us bound? And more importantly, what will it take to finally break the cycle and build collective wealth?

It’s time to unchain our minds and reclaim our economic power.
