Winnie immigrated to the U.S. from Kenya and attended high school in the small town of Blackfoot, Idaho, where her family was one of a handful of Black families. Over Winnie’s life she has helped build understanding through storytelling. She’s also given back to other immigrants as they adjust to life in America (seriously, did you realize how many different kinds of soaps exist on American grocery shelves and how confusing that can be?!).
