This is part two of our Interruptions series, and today we’re diving into detours. The unexpected reroutes that can feel like setbacks and often end up shaping us in better ways.

On stage and in life, detours test our patience, and dancers know this: the show must go on. And sometimes, what feels like the wrong turn ends up being the divine one.

In this episode, I share:

  • The different types of detours (physical, emotional, mental, and life pivots).
  • The difference between a distraction and a true detour.
  • A few of my biggest personal detours like how long it took me to find the right doctor.
  • How detours in dance ie.. injuries, music cutting out, or a costume fail can spark creativity and growth and build character.
  • The qualities detours help you practice: flexibility, surrender, and curiosity.

Detours may look like delays, and they’re often divine disruptions. They invite you to surrender, trust, and create something richer than what you originally planned.
