Segments 1. A speech from Saturdays rally for Trans Day of Resistance. Trans Day of Rememberence was on the 20th of November, last Thursday, to remember and stand up for trans people who have passed. Trans day of rememberence started in 1999 by a group of trans women, after Rita Hester and Chanelle Pickett were murdered in acts of racialised transphobia, and since Trans Day of Rememberence have been on the anniversary of Chanelle Pickets death. We hear a speech from Slumbie, who lives in alice springs and has been a long term activist for trans rights, Slumbie also organised the first trans day of visibility protest here in naarm, have a listen. 2. We played a segment from a panel run by the Jewish Council of Australia On Revolution: In Palestine, Syria and Beyond. The following 12 minute segment contains questions and answers from Louna Ghawi and Dr. Marika Sosnowski. The panel came together to discuss what it means to fight for freedom, justice, and dignity when the odds are stacked against us. Louna Ghawi is a Syrian Australian leader and influential voice in the humanitarian and advocacy space with over 15 years experience across the humanitarian, corporate and academic sectors in Australia and in conflict affected regions including her work with the United Nations in Syria. Dr. Marika Sosnowski is a legal anthropologist at Melbourne Law School and the Granddaughter of Polish and Dutch holocaust survivors. She went to Syria in 2007 and has worked on its revoluition, war, governance and legal systems ever since. Have a listen.3. We continued listening to the speeches from Saturdays Trans Day of Resistance rally, we'll now be hearing from Bee Asian Migrant Project Leader at Vixen and activist speaking on immigration raids by the border force, and the treatment of trans asian migrant sex workers. 4. We were joined live by Rory to discuss Rising Tide Protestival in Maloonbinba/Newcastle to give us the rundown before it kicks off later this week. Rising Tide is the Peoples Blockade of the Worlds Largest Coal Port. Rory is a non-arrestable who is heading up to hype up, help out, cause some light havoc and participate in community decision making. 5. James spoke to Trans Visibility Legacy Award Winner Sally Goldner, a joint founding member of Transgender Victoria, Transfamily Inc and Zoe Belle Gender Collective, Sally is a pioneer trans educator, speaker and community broadcaster. She contributed hugely to groundbreaking law reform protecting gender identity from discrimination and helped achieve passport reform and the sex and gender guidelines. In this interview she reflects on trans activism and support in the 90s and 2000s and what's needed today in an interview to celebrate her receiving the Legacy Award at the Trans Visibility Awards.
