In this conversation I’m diving into the world of Harjiwan - a Kundalini Yogi and a woman who glows with radiance, expansiveness and dedication. We explore her life in depth, from her strict regime of ballet through her childhood, and how it impacted her both positively, in a way of inner discipline and body awareness, but also how it impacted her in a damaging way through developing anorexia at a young age. Her journey from then to now has been a wildly expansive and successful one, from becoming a renowned Pilates instructor to the Australian Ballet Academy and Australian Football teams, owning her own studio, to then diving into Ashtanga yoga, before the doorway opened for her to discover Kundalini Yoga. This path let her to the foot of Yogi Bhajan, the master teacher who brought this practice to the West. By his seed planted, she grew the first Kundalini studio and community in Australia in the early 2000s, and has continued to teach ever since. I get her to explain the basics and the profound nature of Kundalini, the technology that it is and it’s purpose, for all of us still green to its magic. We cover why Kundalini yogis wear white, wrap their heads, practice for specific time periods or numbers of positions within kriyas, what a kriya actually is, how many kriyas there are to choose from, to assist you in your focus or needs, the power of consistent, daily Sadhana and so much more. Amongst frequent workshops and classes, Harjiwan offers a mentoring program for women called ‘WOW’ which she speaks in depth about in our conversation, and why she’s specifically focused on expanding and elevating women into their radiance. She’s a beautiful, inspiring woman who really walks her talk and lives and breathes the essence of Kundalini.
