We have a new tradition here at Meduza: every year on our birthday, we update the merch in our online store, Magaz. In 2025, we turned 11 — and despite the considerable challenges we’ve faced this year, we’ve found a pretty original way to bring you a new collection. Here’s a look at the latest clothing and accessories you can buy to rep Meduza and support our work.
Upcycled merch!
We were eager to release new merch for Meduza’s 11th birthday. For us, it’s more than just a way to earn money: when you wear our gear, we feel your support. But we’ll admit that during this especially tough year for our newsroom, preparing a brand-new drop wasn’t easy. Thanks to you, we’ve been able to significantly expand our base of donors, and it’s only because of this support that we’ve managed to stay afloat. Still, our financial situation remains challenging, which is why our crowdfunding campaign is ongoing.
The good news is, we still found a way to bring you new merch! We looked through our existing stock and decided to give what we had a creative refresh. It’s a bit like when we were kids decorating our notebooks with stickers or patching up our jeans — only this time, we got more professional. We bought a small heat press, learned DTF printing, and applied new designs over the old ones. The prints don’t crack and can handle washing at up to 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). We’re calling it the Archive Collection, and it really is one of a kind.
Even if we wanted to, we couldn’t make these designs again. Each piece is slightly different from the rest because it’s literally hand-finished by Meduza staff. The prints aren’t perfect, and we think that’s part of the charm. We hope you’ll love them too.
For this drop, we decided to bring back the classic Meduza logo — at your request! Last year, we replaced our logo with various intricate designs so you could wear the merch without concern (since we’re now labeled an “undesirable organization” in Russia). For example, we styled the word “Meduza” to look like the logo of a death metal band. But it turned out that readers really missed the original design, and we kept getting messages asking when we’d bring it back. That meant a lot to us, so in this new drop, the death metal hoodie and other Archive items proudly feature Meduza’s name.
All pieces are made from 100 percent cotton and come in a range of sizes.
A brand-new cap
Okay, we do have one completely new item. Meet the piece our Telegram subscribers voted for: a clean, minimalist cap featuring our signature letter M. We’re doing our best not to make any jokes about The Master and Margarita (though if you’re a theater director planning a stage version of Bulgakov’s novel, we’ll happily send you one for your props — free of charge).
The hat is made of 100 percent cotton and has an adjustable strap for the perfect fit.
And a tote to carry it all
This year, we held Meduza’s first-ever exhibition in Berlin. It was called “No,” and it brought together journalists and artists to reflect on the key ideas of our changing world: from war and dictatorship to resistance and hope. Naturally, we made merch for the occasion.
One highlight of this collection is our beautiful semi-transparent “Nein” tote, created in collaboration with the legendary brand Loqi. We’ve always loved museum totes, and the exhibition was the perfect excuse to finally make one of our own. It’s waterproof, tear-resistant, holds up to 15 kilograms (33 pounds), and most importantly, it’s a reminder that sometimes saying “no” is an act of courage in and of itself.
Another tote, printed with the word “Books,” was designed especially for our publishing house — which, believe it or not, has been running for two years now. We’ve already released 19 titles, both fiction and nonfiction, all aimed at helping us make sense of the world we live in. Most of them are available for free via our app, but if you love paper books and visiting bookstores, this sturdy, roomy bag is for you.
Both totes are so good that we’ve left them in our store just as they are. Don’t miss your chance to grab one!
