Russian troops carried out a strike on Ukraine’s railway system on Tuesday night, Ukrainian state rail operator Ukrzaliznytsia reported. According to the company, Russia targeted electrical substations in what it described as a “complex attack.”
The strikes disrupted passenger services on routes to Odesa and Dnipro. Ukrzaliznytsia published a list of 46 trains experiencing delays ranging from a few minutes to several hours.
“Some services are running on altered routes, and 20 reserve diesel locomotives are already in use. Dispatchers also held a number of trains at a safe distance from the affected areas,” the company said.
Ukrzaliznytsia also warned of delays and route restrictions for suburban trains.
According to the Ukrainian authorities, Russian forces targeted infrastructure facilities in the Cherkasy and Kirovohrad regions. Parts of the Kirovohrad region were left without power.
