Airspace over Aalborg Airport in Denmark was closed for about an hour during the night after reports of unidentified drones, Danish broadcaster TV2 reported on Friday.
Police in North Jutland told reporters that officers had spotted “something resembling a drone” near the airport during the night. As a precaution, authorities closed the airspace, and two incoming flights — one from the Faroe Islands and another from Copenhagen — were diverted to other airports. Police searched the airport grounds but found nothing, and the airspace was later reopened.
A police spokesperson said the department also received numerous reports from residents across the region about possible drones in the sky, but patrols sent to investigate found no evidence.
According to TV2, two flights scheduled to depart Aalborg for Amsterdam and Copenhagen on Friday morning were canceled, though it was unclear whether the cancellations were connected to the temporary airspace closure.
It was the second disruption at Aalborg Airport in a week. On the night of September 24, the airport suspended arrivals and departures after unidentified drones were detected in its airspace.
In response to the incidents, Danish authorities said the country is facing a “hybrid war.” So far, it remains unknown who launched the drones.
