We participated in NaPodPoMo- National Podcast Posting Month for the month of November for my other podcast "Love & Life After Divorce"

We also launched this podcast in the month of November.

Aaaaannddd...we got very sick with Covid in the midst of these BIG podcasting aspirations.

Here are our 8 lessons:

  1. Allowing recording to be simple. Have the confidence that you know your topic, take a few simple notes & record!
  2. An accountability partner & a support system are so vital to getting big goals accomplished.
  3. Great show notes are important! Include transcripts, links to prior episodes, and SEO.
  4. Create systems & processes for editing that allow parts of editing to be automatized.
  5. Setting & big goal and meeting that goal creates a HUGE sense of accomplishment and pride.
  6. Repurpose content! Some larger episodes can be turned into shorter episodes and use transcripts to write blog posts that help your listeners to get the information in another way.
  7. Our community of listeners has become like friends & family. We have connected on such a deep level as they message us about episodes and how the episode made a difference in their lives. We care about them and they care about us. It is truly the most beautiful and most surprising gift that podcasting has given us.
  8. There are 2 different ways of looking at data. The first is looking at and analyzing downloads, listens, and statistics. The other, and arguably most important way of looking at data is realizing that those numbers represent a person. Just being able to help ONE person makes all the difference and drives this work. Brianne Davis of the Secret Life podcast taught us that in Episode 3 (listen here)
