WNBA refereeing needs to get better — and so does the way we talk about it | WNBA Podcast
Manage episode 489942075 series 3650215
Host Jackie Powell explores the latest hot topic in WNBA circles and that’s officiating. First she explains the reasons for the latest complaints in officiating after there was a shuffle that broke out between Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever and Jacy Sheldon’s Connecticut Sun earlier this week. Also, Powell shares how Liberty head coach Sandy Brondello feels on the subject. Later she is joined by Lucas Kaplan, a New York based basketball reporter who covers both the Liberty in the WNBA and the Nets in the NBA at NetDaily. The two examine how there are different types of narratives that surround WNBA players and officiating compared to their counterparts in the NBA. And lastly, Powell shares how Mercury head coach Nate Tibbetts feels about officiating while entertaining a conversation as to why WNBA infrastructure for officiating is still lacking. Although, some change might be on the way.
