Mark chapter 13 is known as the Olivet Discourse, where Jesus foretells the destruction of the temple and warns His disciples about coming trials. He describes signs of the end times—wars, earthquakes, and false messiahs—while urging them not to be deceived or afraid. Jesus predicts severe persecution for His followers but promises that the Holy Spirit will give them words to speak. He speaks of the “abomination of desolation” and great tribulation, followed by cosmic signs and His eventual return in glory. The chapter ends with a strong call to watchfulness, as no one knows the day or hour of His coming.
