The Philadelphia Department of Revenue is warning the public to watch out for fraudulent text messages impersonating the department. The scam texts ask recipients to click an unofficial, malicious link and provide banking information to get a refund that doesn't exist. Officials are making it clear: The Department of Revenue will never request banking information or details related to a refund via text message. The department says do not click on any links, don't reply, and don't give out your info. Residents should report suspicious texts as spam and delete them immediately. Officials say there's no evidence that city databases have been breached or compromised.
