Kamala Harris' forthcoming book is prompting pushback from Democrats she considered for her running mate, including Gov. Josh Shapiro. The former vice president wrote that Shapiro would have been the most logical pick, having won over some conservative voters in swing-state Pennsylvania. However, she said she worried about Shapiro's ambition. She wrote that he "mused that he would want to be in the room for every decision," which Harris told him was unrealistic because "a vice president is not a co-president." She claims Shapiro started planning decorations in the vice president's residence before even being interviewed for the gig. The governor's spokesman said it's "simply ridiculous" to suggest Shapiro was focused on anything other than defeating Donald Trump. Shapiro was on Stephen A. Smith's politics show on SiriusXM. The governor was asked about Harris writing in the book that she and others should have told President Joe Biden not to run. Shapiro said he wasn't in the room but still was "extremely vocal" with Biden's staff about concerns over the president's "fitness" to run for another term.
