Central Texas top stories for August 27, 2025. Georgetown is looking at transferring parts of its water service territory to other water providers. The City of Austin is encouraging residents to sign up for emergency alerts. Starting next week, the city of Austin will loosen some watering restrictions that have been in place for about two years. The driver of a Leander ISD school bus involved in an accident earlier this month is no longer employed by the district.
