Beraccah Kisia is a Kenyan-born folk singer and songwriter whose relationship with music began long before she understood it as a craft. From echoing her mother’s improvised chore songs as a toddler to composing her first piece at nine, her voice has always carried a sense of honesty and emotional intelligence.

She later studied music at George Fox University before returning home, where she expanded her work into music education — teaching privately and coaching emerging talent at the Kenya Conservatoire of Music and through the Katangoma Music and Movement Arts Program. Her approach blends technique, storytelling, and sensitivity to the emotional spaces artists occupy.

Performing under the pseudonym August Cellars, she released her first album in 2012 and has since become a familiar presence on stages across Kenya, including Industry Night, Thursday Night Live at Choices, Women in Music Forum, Sama Eden, Blankets & Wine, and the Nairobi Rock Showcase. Her discography includes The Mountain EP and Special Day, the lead single from her upcoming project, The Journey EP.

Beraccah’s sound draws from country, rock, blues, and ’80s pop — shaped by influences like Joan Armatrading and Sade, women of colour who carved out space for alternative, emotionally restorative music. In that lineage, Beraccah continues to build a catalogue defined by purity of tone, depth, and storytelling that feels lived-in.
