English:

Baybayin is an ancient writing system used in the Philippines before the arrival of the Spanish colonizers. It is also known as Alibata, a term coined by Paul Versoza, a Filipino scholar who believed that the script was based on Arabic characters. However, this theory has been debunked, and the correct term is Baybayin, which is derived from the Tagalog word "baybay," meaning "to spell." In this blog post, we will delve into the history, structure, and meaning behind Baybayin and discuss why it is important to preserve this cultural heritage.
