That frustrating experience from my high school track days unexpectedly became the perfect analogy for understanding Israel's disastrous mistake in 1 Samuel 4-6.

Israel made a similar error when facing the Philistines. Rather than seeking God's guidance through prayer and repentance, they simply grabbed the Ark of the Covenant.
