Ever had a friend who makes everything about them? Their pain is always bigger, their wins always louder, their timeline always more important. You’re there for every crisis, every meltdown, every victory post. You cancel plans, rearrange your schedule, and swallow your own struggles just to keep the peace. You cheer the loudest, you listen the longest, you shrink yourself to make room for their spotlight — because that’s what “good friends” do, right?

But when it’s your turn? When you need them to listen, celebrate you, or just show up? Silence. Discomfort. Judgment. Suddenly, your achievements are “lucky breaks,” your pain is “overreacting,” and your needs feel like an inconvenience. You start to notice the imbalance — how you’ve been the emotional safety net, the constant hype person, the one who bends while they take up all the space.

In this episode, I’m unpacking what it really feels like to be the “sidekick friend” — the one who’s always giving, always validating, always available… until you’re not. And when you finally pull back or set a boundary, you’re no longer the loyal friend. You’ve “changed.” You’re “difficult.” You’re “ungrateful.” But here’s the truth — you’re just done playing small in a friendship that was never equal.

This one’s personal. We’re talking about boundaries, emotional burnout, the quiet grief of realizing you’ve been undervalued, and the uncomfortable but necessary shift that happens when you stop accepting crumbs in the name of loyalty.

If you’ve ever felt like the backup dancer in someone else’s show — clapping for their solos while no one notices when you’re missing from the stage — this one’s for you. 🎭
