South Lake Tahoe Mayor Controversy
The city of South Lake Tahoe is riding out a dramatic month. Its mayor, Tamara Wallace, resigned after admitting to embezzlement and the person taking her spot, Mayor Pro Tem Cody Bass, is also at the center of controversy following an arrest outside a local business. Today on Insight, Tahoe Daily Tribune reporter Eli Ramos joins us to unpack what’s happening in the small city.Rebuilding CA’s ‘Salmon Society’
Salmon are one of California’s most iconic species, with deep cultural ties among local tribes. But the fish has suffered significant population declines for decades amid overfishing, dam construction and the impact of climate change. But efforts are underway to help their numbers bounce back, such as the removal of dams on the Klamath River. And for some, it might be time to rethink the state’s relationship with salmon and reintroduce it into California’s culture. Carson Jeffres, Senior Researcher at UC Davis Center for Watershed Science joins Insight to pitch the idea of rebuilding a “salmon society.”Brian Copeland's ‘Not a Genuine Black Man’
When Brian Copeland was a Bay Area radio host, he once received an anonymous letter complaining about how he sounded. That critique led to the creation of a one-man show, Not a Genuine Black Man. It debuted in 2004 and became the longest-running solo show in SAn Francisco theatrical history. Copeland has revived the play, which also spawned a book and a TV deal, and is bringing the show to The Sofia in Sacramento this Saturday. He joins Insight to talk about why he’s returned to this show right now.91 episodes
