Incwadi Yothando is a concept that Nongcebo McKenzie initiated in 2011 on the flagship Ukhozi FM Sunday Music Show, Ezingasoze Zabuna. The love letter writing grew in leaps and bounds and continued until she left the station in 2024.
Centred on a listener writing a love letter to their significant other, Incwadi Yothando encourages listeners to use creative expression to show love and appreciation of their partner, to them.
The authentic creativity of Incwadi Yothando has expanded beyond radio and is now available on YouTube as part of ‘Nongcebo McKenzie: The Podcast’, with sponsored prizes for the love letters.
Incwadi Yothando encourages nurturing within relationships and the family structure. Testimonials received from listeners have varied from how the reading and airing of their love letter rebuilt their marriage to how it increased that level of interpersonal respect and appreciation for the other.
