Into The Holy Place
Manage episode 496713211 series 3679897
In this episode we venture into the first apartment of the sanctuary: The Holy Place. In this room there are three pieces of furniture we will look at starting today and going for the next two episodes: the golden lampstand, the table of shewbread and the altar of incense.
Today we focus on the overall services conduced in the Holy Place as well as the structure itself.
Serving in the Holy Place was privilege and revered by the priests. The highest honor was to serve at the Altar of Incense (golden altar).
At the Golden Altar the priest was in direct communication with God, praying for his people and himself and family.
We look at the ritual the priest conducted before going into the Holy Place as well as the practice of cleaning the ashes from the altar.
We take a quick look at the Golden Lampstand
We discuss the similarities between the almond design on the golden lampstand and Aarons rod which budded almond blossoms.
We discuss how the lampstand was the only light in the Holy Place and represented Christ as the light of the world.
We also discuss how the oil in the lampstand is symbolic of the Holy Spirit.
We discussed the symbolism of the first apartment with regard to the plan of salvation: Christ walking among us, his church (the lampstand) lead by the Holy Spirit (oil) with brings about the light to the world (Jesus).
We end by discussing how the Holy Spirit illuminates our minds and then discussed the Feast of Tabernacles and how that played into the services in the Holy Place and the Golden lampstands.
