In this episode of Afterlife Revealed (Ep. 20), Dani Foffa talks with Near-Death Experiencer Davis Haines. Davis is a professional musician, actor, and teacher from Birmingham, Alabama, who works with children and people with developmental disabilities.

In 2011, Davis was run over by a truck and given only a 1% chance of survival. He suffered massive injuries—bone fractures, blood loss, and organ failure—and was transfused with 13 units of blood as doctors fought to save him. While his family said goodbye, Davis crossed the veil. What he experienced wasn’t darkness but a homecoming filled with boundless love, unity, and the profound knowing that “Earth is the dream.”

In this intimate NDE interview, Davis shares his accident, his five-day coma, and the years-long integration process that reshaped his art, family, faith, and purpose. When he awoke, he told his family an angel—whom he calls Art—had saved his life.

Today, Davis is a songwriter, worship leader, and certified Music Together® teacher. Since his profound near-death experience, he has traveled the world creating music, improvising, and living his mission to “spread Love through Art.”

What is an NDE?

A near-death experience (NDE) is typically a profound, life changing, intensely emotional experience that usually occurs during a clinical crisis and has common characteristics and aftereffects. It is not a dream, hallucination, or mental illness (Greyson, 1983). There are no predictive variables to identify who will have an NDE. They happen to people of all ages, religions, socio-economic groups, cultures, educational backgrounds, and belief systems. They occur under a variety of circumstances such as accidents, near-drownings, illnesses, combat, surgical procedures, and childbirth. Following an NDE, experiencers (NDErs) often display some common aftereffects. Research has established a set of common NDE characteristics and long-term aftereffects. Theories used to explain near-death experiences in purely physical terms have been proven inadequate by NDE researchers and others.
