The move to promote 68 judges of Gujarat has received a major setback from the Supreme Court. The top court has stayed the promotion of all these judges. Incidentally, the judge who sentenced Rahul Gandhi to two years imprisonment in defamation case is also included in the list. Earlier, the judge hit the headlines for being promoted in less time. Let's talk about this in today's video. Recently, the Gujarat High Court had approved the promotion of 68 judges and the Gujarat government had also issued a notification regarding this. However, two judicial officers raised questions on the way promotions were done. They filed a petition in Supreme Court and demanded a stay on promotions. In their petition, the petitioners have criticized the approach adopted by the High Court.The judges against whose promotion the petition was filed include Judge Harish Verma, who held Rahul Gandhi guilty of defamation, and Judge Jayesh L Chowtia, who issued summons to Kejriwal in the defamation case.
