330. The Paradox of Peace: The Healing Power of Serving Others!
Manage episode 515165905 series 3625884
This week’s episode is all about one of the most surprising (and healing) truths I’ve ever learned: you transform your own life by focusing on others.
It sounds simple, but it’s deeply powerful — because so much of our anxiety, overthinking, and exhaustion comes from being overly focused on ourselves. When we turn our attention outward — to loving, serving, and honoring others — something shifts inside of us. Our peace returns. Our joy multiplies. And we start to live in alignment with how God actually designed us to live.
In this episode, Emmy and I dive into: Why self-focus often breeds anxiety and disconnection How loving and serving others creates healing in your own heart and mind The difference between healthy service and codependency What it means to “outdo one another in showing honor” (Romans 12:10) — and how to make it a daily practice 💌 How focusing on others brings us back to what truly matters: people, presence, and purpose
We also talk about my favorite old teaching — the doctrine of vocation — and how every role we hold (mother, friend, co-worker, neighbor) is an invitation to serve the people right in front of us with love and excellence.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed, inwardly focused, or just ready to reconnect with your purpose, this episode will remind you that you don’t have to wait until you “fix yourself” to live a meaningful life. You just have to start giving what you already have.
