The Work of Thirst (Active Pursuit)
Thirst is different from hunger; it is a more immediate, pervasive need. To thirst for righteousness suggests an active, deliberate pursuit. You don't just wait for water to come to you; you go to the well. In the same way, we must actively pursue God. We pursue Him through diligent prayer, meditating on His Word, and gathering with the community of believers (the Church). This pursuit is not a burden, but a joy, because the promise is clear: the person who prioritizes this quest will be filled.

Reflection Questions:

  1. What does my current spiritual routine communicate about the intensity of my "thirst"? (Is it a quick sip, or a deliberate filling up?)
  2. What is one distraction or commitment I could temporarily set aside this week to dedicate more time to drawing near to God?
