When God Seems Distant in Your Pain
Manage episode 496759519 series 3619957
God does not inflict suffering or hardship on His children as punishment for their sins because Jesus' sacrifice was once for all believers, for all time. The painful experiences we go through are not God's angry punishment but rather His loving discipline designed to shape us into Christ's image.
• Distinguishing between punishment (retributive) and discipline (corrective and formative)
• Understanding that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross cancelled all our debt of sin (Hebrews 10:14)
• Recognizing that God disciplines those He loves as a father disciplines his children (Hebrews 12:5-6)
• Learning to see hardships not as God's punishment but as opportunities for growth
• Coming boldly to the throne of grace rather than hiding in shame during difficult times
• Remembering that God's feelings toward Christians are always gracious, loving, and kind
• Approaching God with confidence knowing He gives good gifts to His children
God loves you and is not going to do anything to harm you. He will never leave you nor forsake you, and He is always watching over you even when you walk through the valley experiences.
