Alexander Mackay: Uganda’s Missionary Pioneer | Hall of Faith
Manage episode 508012179 series 3271724
Alexander Mackay (1849–1890), often called the “Missionary Engineer,” was a Scottish missionary to Uganda. Sent by the Church Missionary Society, he arrived in East Africa in 1876 and devoted his skills as both an engineer and a teacher to the work of missions. Mackay built roads, translated Scripture, introduced practical skills like carpentry and printing, and courageously shared his faith amid opposition and danger. His dedication earned him deep respect, and even in the face of persecution, he stood firm. Though he died young, Mackay’s legacy lives on as one of the great missionaries to Africa.Thank you for watching!
