Welcome to From Code to Culture, a podcast by UnboxingBLR.

This is our 8th episode featuring Kavan Kuttappa and Akhila Srinivas — pioneers, in their own right, of the most buzzy spaces in Bengaluru.

In this episode, we’re peeling back the layers of Bengaluru’s food scene — how has it evolved from being the ‘pub capital of India’ to being a space where micro-dining and supper clubs with strangers are commonplace? More importantly, how has the city allowed this transition to take place?

Why is the food scene in BLR so experimental? What are the culinary trends that are redefining how we eat? Would Kavan ever be open to opening a Naru Noodle Bar in Delhi or Mumbai?

And while we’re on Naru, it’s almost impossible not to talk about Courtyard — a space envisioned for community building in the heart of the city, which has reinvented itself post lockdown to become a thriving cultural hub.

How do you build a public space not just for today, but for decades to come? What does it take to push through the doubt when you’re building for a city that’s looking for a unique experience in a sea of trends?

Settle in, get your favourite ramen (or cup noodles) ready. When we talk about food and how culture can support communities — it’s a conversation worth tuning into.
