It’s easy these days to feel pressured – pressured by a lack of time, a lack of resources, the demands that work and life in general place on us, pressing in, it seems, from every direction. What is it in your life that makes you feel pressured?

One of the things that can all too easily set me off is my email inbox, especially after I’ve been travelling. I come back to hundreds of emails. How am I ever going to get through them? How am I ever going to meet all these demands?

We all have triggers – what are yours?

Look, the pressures of life will come and go. They are, without doubt, inevitable. Stress, on the other hand, is optional. Stress is but one response to pressure that we can either choose to partake in or not.

Hmm, how do you react to that? How do you avoid stress? As you ponder that, here’s wise old King Solomon on this very subject:

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust the LORD completely, and don’t depend on your own knowledge. With every step you take, think about what he wants, and he will help you go the right way. Don’t trust in your own wisdom, but fear and respect the LORD and stay away from evil. If you do this, it will be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body.

The website LivingChristian.org sums it up like this: “Not once in the Bible does it say to worry about it, to stress over it or to try and figure it all out. But over and over again it clearly says, trust God.”

If you do this, it’ll be like a refreshing drink and medicine for your body.

That’s God’s Word. Fresh … for you … today.
