People have been talking about the demise of Christianity for centuries. Inevitably though, it's simply turned out to be wishful thinking on their part. And whilst in some denominations church attendance has waned, in others it's absolutely booming.

Eighteenth century French enlightenment writer and philosopher, Voltaire, absolutely hated Christianity and wrote often against it and the Bible. In 1776, he predicted that, "One hundred years from my day, there will not be a Bible on earth except one that is looked upon by an antiquarian curiosity-seeker."

CrossExamined.org presents strong historical evidence that within fifty years after his death, in an ironic twist, the very house in which he once lived and wrote was used by the Evangelical Society of Geneva as a storehouse for Bibles and Gospel tracts. The printing press he once used to print his own works was instead used to print Bibles.

Of course, they tried to silence Jesus too. He was derided and hated by the religious establishment. They didn't like what He had to say. His response?

Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away. (NIV)

The fire that Jesus had in His heart to save the likes of you and me, to give us a life worth living, to have us spend eternity with Him … hasn't gone out. It burns ever so brightly in this present-day darkness and it's light, it's warmth, it's love, is for you.

Of course there are those who deride God's Word and hate those who follow Jesus, but they will never prevail.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.

Jesus. That's God's Word. Fresh … for you … today.
