In this edition we spoke at length to Brummie lad Andy Lloyd, who made several inroads into various areas of music as a writer, musician and singer.
From his beginnings as a reluctant teen heart throb with a single on Hansa Records, to fronting a popular Birmingham Mod band, which became The Bloomsbury Set, who toured with Duran Duran and had a track produced by Andy Taylor.
"It was as if the powers that be, closed certain doors on us"
Amidst tales of The Rum Runner and Romulous club years and witnessing first hand the studio discipline of Kevin Rowland & DMR,
We find out about Andy's contracted work recording interpretations/covers culminating in 8 albums of what he describes as his 'busking years'. Eventually fulfilling his desire to blend reggae & pop with the Popman & The Raging Bull project, gaining a release on the respected Greensleeves label.
This is Andy's first interview in 30 years. We are very humbled that it was with us. His five 80s choices are great too - DA
