In this compelling episode, PAIN Founder Flindt Andersen and host Jason LaChance revisit their sit-down with retired DEA veteran William “Bill” Bodner for a powerful conversation about America’s drug crisis. With 31 years of experience, Agent Bodner offers an inside look at the evolving landscape of fentanyl trafficking, the complex challenges at the U.S. border, and China's role in supplying precursor chemicals. He stresses that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to the drug epidemic and shares critical thoughts on the impact of legislation and open-air drug markets.

Agent Bodner’s extensive career includes serving as Special Agent in Charge of the DEA’s Los Angeles Field Division, overseeing operations across Southern California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, and Saipan. Prior roles included Deputy and Assistant Special Agent in Charge, and a key position at the Special Operations Division in Virginia, where he led multi-jurisdictional investigations targeting high-level drug traffickers. His boots-on-the-ground work in Los Angeles helped build collaborative partnerships across federal, state, and local agencies.

Bodner emphasizes that drug trafficking is far from a victimless crime. His mission through the DEA has always been to protect communities by reducing drug-related violence and promoting public health. In his words, the best defense against addiction is to pursue passion with purpose, never letting drugs replace what truly drives you in life.
