Episode Description:
Have you ever wondered if your anxiety, emotional detachment, or constant need to "do it all" might be more than just personality traits? What if they’re actually responses to trauma—deep signals from your nervous system asking for safety?
In this heartfelt and grounding episode, Cynthia is joined by fellow Rapid Eye Technician Desarae for a deeply personal conversation about trauma, PTSD, and the healing power of coming back to the body. Together, they explore the stories we carry—those passed down through families, hidden in religious frameworks, or masked by perfectionism and over-functioning.
Long before peace or presence became possible, both Cynthia and Desarae lived in states of survival—navigating the effects of trauma that didn’t always look like trauma. Through their professional work and lived experience, they’ve found a path forward. And now, they’re sharing that journey with you.
This episode is an invitation to slow down, reconnect, and begin healing—not just mentally, but somatically and spiritually. Together, Cynthia and Desarae explore:
• The different faces of trauma—including those that hide in “high-functioning” behaviors
• How PTSD can develop even in environments we thought were “safe”
• The nervous system’s essential role in trauma and recovery
• What intergenerational and religious trauma can look like in everyday life
• How to begin returning to your body with safety, curiosity, and care
This isn’t just about managing symptoms or pushing through. It’s about reclaiming your sense of presence, peace, and personal power—from the inside out.
Whether you’re in the midst of a healing journey or just beginning to ask deeper questions, this conversation offers both understanding and hope. You don’t have to go it alone. And you don’t have to stay disconnected.
Healing doesn’t ask you to be perfect. It asks you to be present.
