The sudden, startling, violent death young Ukranian refugee Iryna Zarutska, slain with a knife in an unprovoked attack, and conservative youth activist Charlie Kirk, assassinated from 200 yards with a high powered rifle in a public venue in front of thousands of students, have shocked the nation. Iryna was 23; Charlie was 31. What a horrific waste of life. What grabbed America's attention is not only the youth, violence, and tragic nature of these killings but also that both murders were recorded on video and immediately available for all to see. Dealing with death is never easy. Dealing with carnage is even more difficult. American culture is in trouble. Many know this; some leaders know this, but how to turn things around is another thing. Christians know we need a spiritual awakening, perhaps a great awakening, that points people back to Christ and Christian values that can reinforce the family, reestablish a public moral code based upon Judeo-Christian values, and strengthen law, order, justice, and peace.
