The Vietnam war is a black mark in history, many stories from Vietnam are filled with tragedy and sadness. The story of McNamara's Project 100,000 was a practice in idiocy...went on to garner the nickname "McNamara's Morons", a complete tragedy.
In this episode we take a look at this absolute disastrous plan to fill the ranks of depleting soldiers in the Vietnam war through the practice of recruiting soldiers who did not pass the adopted military entrance exam (ASVAB). The soldiers who passed through this program were not prepared for what awaited them. Some could not read or write, and had low IQ's, and were in poor physical condition, or had medical complications...you can probably imagine it didn't go well.
This episode includes a look at this whole debacle and includes some uncomfortable conversations about society, and how we sometimes just make really, really stupid decisions. So, join us as we take a dive into the incomprehensible.
