Researchers from the University of Innsbruck and the University of Waterloo have successfully simulated a complete quantum field theory in more than one spatial dimension using a novel type of quantum computer. Science Daily reports that the team used a qudit quantum computer, which can store and process information using up to five values per carrier, to efficiently represent complex quantum fields.
