Laurie Bembenek was a former police officer who was convicted of murdering her husband's ex-wife in 1981. Her story gained national news in 1990, when Bembenek escaped from Wisconsin's Taycheedah Correctional Institution and was apprehended in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
