A 609 letter is used when you want the credit bureaus to verify and prove that the information they’re reporting about you is accurate and legally documented. It’s based on Section 609 of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), which gives you the right to request the sources and documentation behind the information on your credit report.
