The Thera Eruption
Manage episode 503301614 series 3610447
Around 1600 BCE, the volcanic island of Thera erupted with a force that reshaped the Aegean, sending tsunamis across the Mediterranean and burying the Minoan settlement of Akrotiri under metres of ash. In this episode, we explore how one of history’s largest eruptions destroyed an island, disrupted ancient civilisations, and may have inspired legends like Atlantis.
