🎧 Season 7 of Com d’Archi opens with the Les Fabriques school in Marseille.

Designed by Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés with Euromed, PROROCH, Bollinger-Grohmann (BET), and Eiffage Construction. Solid stone, thermal inertia, innovation, and transmission: a sustainable school anticipating climate challenges and inspiring the future.

To open season 7 of Com d’Archi, we take you to Marseille’s northern districts to discover the Les Fabriques school, designed by Brenac & Gonzalez & Associés. Here, architecture relies on the demanding choice of solid local stone, implemented with Eiffage, engineering firm Bollinger-Grohmann (BET), and quarry operator PROROCH. This envelope of cyclopean blocks, carefully set with minimal concrete for seismic safety, provides thermal inertia, reflected light, and long-term durability, while recalling Marseille’s Calanques. Through this project, the architects show that a school can be functional, protective, and poetic, conceived to endure and even allow the stone to be reused in 150 years.

👉 A vivid testimony inviting you to discover how matter becomes architecture, and how architecture becomes memory. Listen to the episode, or watch the video on YouTube! : https://youtu.be/IkK4Z1mABXo?si=ebg3TmJbTDRQl3Pl !

This English version was generated using AI with voice cloning, preserving the speakers’ timbre and their natural French accent.

Speakers : Anne-Charlotte Depondt with Jean-Pierre Lévêque architect and associate BGA, Julien Gonin and Arnaud Ladauge, manager architects BGA.
