She penned a memoir in 2015 called "Josiah’s Fire: Autism Stole His Words, God Gave Him a Voice" that chronicles their family’s path that brought them to a communication breakthrough for Josiah through spelling, unearthing his rich inner world. His very first independent sentence, "God is a good gift giver," spurred a family paradigm shift from coping with an autism diagnosis to hoping for a good future grappling with the whole person--spirit, soul and body. Josiah is a poet and shares his profound wisdom and musings on his Facebook page, "Josiah's Fire,” does an ongoing service project called Josiah’s Care Packs that he assembled for people in senior care facilities and undergoing cancer treatment.
